Today’s notes:
United Airlines did a very neat thing and set up a number of CrowdRise accounts. The airline made a donation and will provide air miles for donations at CrowdRise. $2,248,941 raised.
JJ Watt is now over $28 million, The CEO of grocer H-E-B donated $5 million and the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon donated a cool million.
The list has data on 48 telethons that have raised at least $26 million.
The big telethon on September 12 is now touted for both Harvey and Irma relief. Lots of big names but… 1.5 hours of air time? Did I get that right?

It’s Labor Day and the media is rapidly turning to the next big threat. Hurricane Irma is nearly a week away from the U.S. East Coast but it is already being touted as the “next” Hurricane Harvey.

Today’s Notes:
Geophysicist Chris Milliner reports on Twitter that the water from Hurricane Harvey was so heavy that it caused the land under Houston to sink 2 cm, about one inch.
I have seen reports of foreign donations from Mexico, Canada, and Israel.
JJ Watt has raised $19.3 million at this point.
Many Catholic churches held special collections Saturday and Sunday for Hurricane Harvey relief. Next weekend will see even more of the same. I’ll post as I see the results.
Telethons have raised about $26 million, plus. Remember that I am separating business donations out on the list. It is surprisingly difficult to find results.
My list shows that the total raised at this point, ten days into the disaster, is 50 percent of that raised for Katrina at the same time. It is $118 million more than what was raised for Hurricane Sandy at ten days.

Today’s notes:
The ABC / Disney “Day of Giving” has brought in $14,300,000 according to reports. This includes both business and individual donations, which I have tried to separate on the list.
The JJ Watts site on YouCaring has raised just over $16 million. Reports are that the money will be directed to the tiny JJ Watt Foundation. Its tax records show revenues of just $1.4 million in 2016, so the amount raised is a HUGE increase. I hope they are capable of managing it.
The Dell Foundation (Dell Computers) is announcing a $36 million contribution to a Rebuild Texas fund. This pledge includes a matching fund drive so, as best as I can determine, $18 million belongs on the list at this time.
Houston Mayor Turner has announced that the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund has received $29 million, $11.5 million in donations, with an additional $17.5 million in commitments. I have listed the difference between $29 million and the amounts already credited to the fund on my list under the Foundations category.
