Hurricane Post

From Southern Maryland, my brother writes:
3pm: Raining like hell intermittantly. Steady 12 mph winds with 23 MPH wind gusts (according to Weatherbug). My own sense is about 35mph gusts. Rain rate at 0.6 inches per hour. Lights just flickered in the building. We have 592 customers w/o power. We've lost 3 feeder lines: 2 in Charles County, 1 in St. Mary's county. I'm told that 1/2 million w/o power in N.C. And Va. We are closing our doors for normal business operations and sending everyone home. I sent my 11 resources home at noon.

Conditions at home are about the same, wind wise. Haven't heard from wife on rain. Weatherbug says none.

3:10 Raining like hell. Wind gusts to 40 mph (weatherbug). The 592 number was just who called in. The real number of outages is about 3,000.
