Power Outage

Parkridge Hospital, in the western part of Rochester, lost its generator when the power went out. The county rushed one over, but things were hectic, I'm sure. Batteries in IV's and respirators only last so long. One report by a Live Journal friend suggests they were bagging patients in their ICU for a time. Not a fun idea. No patients had to be moved but they closed their emergency department.

While this may just be bad planning on their part, I would also note that somethings things break at the worst possible moment despite your best efforts. Testing a generator is different than having it kick in all at once in an emergency. Different loads and such. I suspect they will pay a little more attention to the situation, though.

No other major problems in Rochester. PGA play continues at Oak Hill.

UPDATE: The daily paper is saying that the generator oveheated after about an hour of service. Some power reduction occurred but it was repaired, and then the normal power was restored.
