Fisking Rooters

My brother fisks the traditional Reuters garbled news story:

Iraqi Police Tell U.S. Troops -- Get Out of Town

Reuters
Thursday, July 10, 2003; 8:06 AM

FALLUJA, Iraq (Reuters) - Iraqi police in Falluja threatened to resign on Thursday unless the U.S. forces that trained them left town, saying the presence of American troops endangered their lives. --They prefer to be outgunned.

More than 100 members of the new U.S.-backed force protested in the town about 30 miles west of Baghdad after their police station and a municipality building came under attack overnight by guerrillas firing rocket-propelled grenades.

There were no reported casualties. -- of course, the arabs can't do anything right.  You give me an RPG and I'll give you REAL casualities.

"We have the ability to protect these sites," said Riyadh Abdel-Latif, the town's police chief. "The presence of Americans endangers us. We asked the Americans more than a month and a half ago to leave Falluja." -- Why didn't you protect them then, you 98 pound macho midget?  When are the arabs going to realize they're 8-10 inches shorter and 70 pounds lighter than the average American and the only people they can defend themselves against are other underfed, genetically stunted midget tribes (like Iran).

The protesters handed a petition to the mayor and U.S. commander in the town, saying they would resign in 48 hours if American troops did not leave.  -- Oh, boo-hoo.  They're probably all Baathist war criminals anyway.

Falluja is a hotbed of anti-American sentiment. U.S. officials say they are facing organized resistance from mixed groups of Islamic militants, Saddam Hussein loyalists, armed gangs and Iraqis seeking revenge for the deaths of relatives. -- probably many of whom are police....

U.S. troops shot dead 15 protesters during demonstrations in the town three weeks after U.S. and British troops ousted Saddam on April 9. -- after they came under fire from the crowd.

Frustration also grew with the U.S. failure to restore basic services including water and electricity. -- which article fails to state has been restored, unless sabotaged by an Iraqi.

In an attempt to restore order since then, the United States has revived new police forces, many of whom served under the former regime and are regarded with suspicion.  -- The point of this article is:  US BAD.  We stay, we bad.  We go, we bad.  We jes bad.

U.S.-backed Iraqi police have been targeted for cooperating with the occupation forces. The biggest attack was last week, when a remote-controlled blast killed seven Iraqi police recruits in Ramadi, 60 miles west of Baghdad. -- I thought we we talking about Falluja.  This is journalistic bait and switch.  Aggregate bad news, past, present and future and make it all sound like it's happening all the time in one place (or everywhere, depending on the story).

On July 1, American troops came under grenade attack in Falluja after an explosion at a mosque killed nine people.  -- Iraqi's kill themselves then take vengence on Americans.  Note: they failed at this just like nearly every effort by Arabs for the last 500 years.

Residents blamed a coalition air strike for the blast. Iraqi police in Falluja and the U.S. military in a joint investigation said the explosion occurred during a bomb-making class, but a U.S. official later said he could not confirm it. -- What "US official"?  A military commander or the Secretary of Agriculture?  I am so sick of diliberately vague sources or "un-named" sources.  Un-named sources never have anything good to say.  BTW: A coalition air strike, on July 1?  I would think that would stand out like a sore thumb.  What is really happened: arabs willing to sacrifice other arabs to attain their twisted goals.
